Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy explains when you can cancel a Course and get a refund. It applies to paid Courses bought through Manchester Training Academy and forms part of our Terms & Conditions. Free or £0 Courses are not covered, as there is nothing to refund.

1. Overview

We want refunds to be fair to learners and to the tutors whose work you are buying. Because Courses are digital and give you immediate access, the rules are different for Recorded Courses and Live Courses. Please read the section that applies to you.

  • This policy applies to paid Courses only.
  • Free Courses, and Courses reduced to £0 by a coupon, are not refundable because no payment is taken.
  • If you are a consumer, your statutory rights still apply — see “Your legal rights” below.

2. Recorded (self-paced) Courses

Once you open a Recorded Course's content in your dashboard — even for a moment — that Course is non-refundable.

A Recorded Course gives you immediate access to viewable and downloadable material. To protect our tutors' work, the moment you access the course content area for that Course in your dashboard (for example opening a lesson, even briefly), you are treated as having received the digital content and the Course becomes non-refundable.

You are entitled to a refund of a Recorded Course only if you have not accessed any of its content, and you ask us within 14 days of purchase. If you have not opened the content, contact us within that window and we will refund you in full.

When you buy a Recorded Course you ask for immediate access to the content and accept that your right to change your mind ends once you access it.

3. Live Courses

A Live Course can be cancelled for a refund only if you ask at least 48 hours before the first scheduled session.

Places on Live Courses are limited and tutors prepare for scheduled sessions. You may cancel and receive a full refund only if you request it at least 48 hours before the start time of the first session.

After that point — that is, within 48 hours of the first session, or once the Course has begun — the Live Course is non-refundable, whether or not you attend. Missing sessions does not entitle you to a refund.

4. How to request a refund

To request a refund, use our contact form or email [email protected]. Please include your name, the email address on your account, and the Course name.

We aim to review requests promptly and, where a refund is due, to process it within 5 to 10 business days. Refunds are made to your original payment method through Stripe. How quickly it appears then depends on your bank or card provider.

5. Multi-course orders and coupons

  • If you bought several Courses in one order, each Course is assessed separately under the rules above.
  • Where a refund is due, we refund the amount you actually paid for that Course, after any discount.
  • A coupon used on a refunded order may not be available to use again.

6. If we cancel or reschedule

If we cancel a Live Course or session and cannot offer you a suitable rescheduled session, you may choose a full refund for the affected Course. If we withdraw a Recorded Course you have bought before you could reasonably access it, we will refund you.

8. Business and corporate customers

Consumer cancellation rights do not apply to business or corporate customers. Refunds for business customers are at our discretion and are governed by this policy together with any agreed order or invoice terms.

9. Chargebacks

Please contact us before raising a chargeback or payment dispute — it is almost always quicker for us to resolve a genuine problem directly. A chargeback that goes against this policy, for example after you have accessed a Recorded Course, may be challenged with evidence of access.
